How we work
Having spent many years appointing and working with consultants on projects throughout the world, we have a very realistic understanding of client expectations – and disappointments. Based on personal experience we have established a list of core values we think are essential to the integrity, efficacy and success of our consultancy.
Every Project is a New Project: S•E•B Strategy firmly believes in assessing every project for its unique and specific requirements. Although we have a wealth of background experience and knowledge, we will NOT deliver research and reports simply based on work already done elsewhere. We are committed to making an honest assessment – no matter how volatile – based on our own research.
Honesty & Integrity: We believe it is vitally important to be true to ourselves and our clients. We do not believe in presenting what we think or know our clients want to hear. We will tell it like it is (as we see it) – even if it involves some uncomfortable truths. What we see is what you’ll get.
Commitment to clients: If we can’t fit the job into a schedule to suit everyone concerned, we will say ”no”. When we say “Yes – we will do it” we mean it. If we say “Sorry – we can’t do it” it is because we honestly feel we cannot do justice to the job within the required time frame or resources available. We will not compromise.
Providing realistic solutions: We know that the “perfect solution” is not necessarily the “right solution”. On every project we consider practical realities including:
- the organisational capacity of the institutions involved
- political realities as observed on the ground
- ensuring that close attention is paid to properly communicating change and reform.
Ethics
The nature of S•E•B Strategy’s work demands considerable long-distance travel – mostly by air. Some of our clients already provide carbon offsets for our travel (i.e. they invest in projects proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions). Where an offset is not already provided we have measured our company's travel emissions through the use of the carboNZero Travel & Tourism calculator and have mitigated those emissions through the purchase and cancelling of credible, verified carbon credits from the carbonNZero programme.
S•E•B Strategy’s home offices are powered by Meridian Energy which is New Zealand’s only certified carbon neutral energy company. (We also walk – and cycle – a lot).
